Overview

At Station P, we use OSS to enter attendance and apply for various applications (overtime, holiday work, etc.), but due to the lack of resources on our internal server, we decided to use AWS.

Task

On-premises servers were required to take systematic measures against the risk of hardware troubles and the aging that always comes. In addition, on-premises servers cannot be accessed by seconded employees, so there was also the problem that attendance management of seconded employees could not be performed in real time.

Reasons for choosing Amazon Web Services

We decided to use AWS because it has the highest market share in the world’s cloud services and we can receive the support of OCC.

Services used on AWS

I’m using EC2.

Benefits of moving to AWS

Since the resources can be changed freely, there is no need to estimate the required resources strictly at the beginning, and the shortage can be gradually increased, and excessive initial investment can be suppressed. Even after the introduction, it is possible to reduce extra spending by stopping the server at night or on holidays, where “time and attendance management” does not need to be running. In addition, by moving to the public cloud, it has become possible for seconded employees to use it, and attendance can be managed without a time lag.

the next deployment

We plan to consider Reserved Instances based on the usage status.
